Overview

Camping in history

This New Forest campsite occupies part of what used to be Holmsley Airfield in WWII, so it’s a beautiful and unique forest base for camping holidays and outdoor activities. Surrounded by ancient trees on all sides, and sitting next to a large heathland, you can spend your time relaxing and enjoying 360 degree views of grazing ponies and wildlife.

Not far from the coastline, this is a great base for exploring the nearby sandy beaches of Christchurch and Bournemouth as well as the tracks that weave through the ancient woodland of the New Forest.

Holmsley offers pitches with electric hook-ups in addition to non-electric hardstanding and grass pitches.

Please Note:

The takeaway service will remain closed until further notice.

When visiting the New Forest, please follow the New Forest Code to help us care and look after this unique place for everyone to enjoy. Find out how here.

Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e. not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan, we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbecues for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites, no barbecues of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.

Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies.
