Spread across 270 hectares of woodland, heathland and moorland, Mugdock Country Park is perfect walking territory. Bursting with colour, indulge the senses, basking in glorious surroundings where you find plenty of hidden gems as you explore, including a loch, two castles, stables and a whimsical, walled garden.
With 2.5 miles of cycling terrain to tour, saddle up and set off on two wheels, exploring the Park’s ever-changing landscape. Encounter vibrant colours, enchanting woodlands and an abundance of wildlife on a winding journey around the Park’s vast grounds. With a cycle hire centre on site, choose from tandems, fat tyre, and balance bikes. Child trailers available too.
Put your navigational skills to the test trying out the popular sport of orienteering, right at the heart of Mugdock Country Park. Navigate from point to point with just a compass, a map and your wits to guide you. A fun and challenging way to explore the Park, pick up a pack from the Visitor Centre and go on an adventure.
Start and finish at the Visitor Centre on the magnificent two-mile, circular History Trail. Take a journey into the past discovering historical points of interest located within Mugdock Country Park. The tremendous Tree Trail tests your tree knowledge. Fun for all the family, can you correctly identify 10 of Mugdock’s most common tree species? Starting at the Visitor Centre, discover the Gallowhill area of the Park and its diverse display of trees.
For the younger members of the family, embark on an epic scavenger hunt, keeping your eyes peeled for those must find items on the ‘wanted list’ - available from the Visitor Centre. Keep a lookout for all things fuzzy and things that make a noise.
Mugdock Country Park is home to wide open spaces and dedicated play areas, where children can get active. Located at the Visitor Centre, there is a children’s play park for the youngsters, while an all-action, adventure trail will keep the older children occupied. Parents can take a load off, with plenty of seating available at each site.
