Situated on the site of the old railways in Swindon (known as Wiltshire's premier railway town) is the delightfully quaint Museum of the Great Western Railway. The stunning Grade II listed building documents the UK's industrious railway history - stretching as far back as the industrial revolution.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel plays an expected central role in the museum – the engineer and maverick who masterminded Great Western Rail. You can also learn about the fascinating part trains played in World War I, get up close and personal with multiple former models, and live through history in a reconstructed 1930's station.
