Mother and daughter at Ashurst campsite
Prices From £18.15 per night (Two Adults) BOOK NOW
Ashurst campsite is a rich blend of the true forest camping experience alongside traditional open pitches. Dotted with ancient oaks, which become denser as you close in on the forest’s edge, it's a site where you can truly soak up the New Forest ambience and enjoy it's unique character along with the historic New Forest ponies which roam freely on site.
Ashurst campsite boasts 280 standard pitches, ranging from open spaces to peaceful secluded spots amongst the trees. Regardless of where you camp, you’ll always have a piece of the beauty within reach.

Like with many of our New Forest campsites, you can take off straight into the forest onto one of the many waymarked routes, meaning you’re never far from the local flora and fauna, a relaxing stroll or the opportunity to explore.

Set on the edge of a small area of woodland known as Ashurst Wood, our Ashurst campsite is a short walk from Matley Heath, an expanse of New Forest heathland criss-crossed with tracks perfect for walking or cycling.

Just a five minute stroll away is the pretty village of Ashurst, where you will find shops, traditional pubs and welcoming restaurants. Local attractions include the Longdown Activity Farm and The New Forest Wildlife Park.

Clean, friendly and peaceful, Ashurst is the secluded campsite you’ve been looking for. Take a look at the extra information we’ve provided in the tabs above and book now.

Regrettably organised thieves are known to operate in the new forest area, which is an open and unfenced environment. High value bicycles left outside units in particular are targeted. Please be aware and make your own informed choices regarding security arrangements for your property.

Facilities available at Ashurst Campsite, New Forest

Ashurst campsite benefits from toilets and showers, a launderette, dishwashing facilities and more, making it ideal for new and seasoned campers alike.

Please note that Ashurst is one of our two campsites (the other is Denny Wood) that does not allow you to bring your canine (or other pet) friends.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We don't usually go to,such large sites but were staying to attend a family wedding nearby. The site owners and staff were so friendly and helpful in giving us taxi numbers to get to the wedding and even giving me an electric point to straighten my hair under the trees! First time for everything! We had a really nice spot to camp facing out to the forest. Traffic noise is quite loud but I guess it's just what you are used to. I'd happily return here for a more chilled stay to just enjoy the surroundings. Facilities are spot in and very clean. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Excellent site
We only stayed 3 nights but have previously stayed longer at this site Staff very helpful and lovely surroundings Heated cloakrooms in the morning with nice hot showers pity other visitors leave the door open, obviously not environment conscious

Need more info on website
Had all the rules and information been listed on the website we would have chosen to go elsewhere. The real disappointment of this campsite is the railway there isnt really anywhere you can get away with it and during peak times the only pitches left are just metres from the railline so no chance of sleep. Also reading on the website it said you were allowed fires if raised off the ground... Upon arrival we were informed absokutely no wood fires allowed to me this is a major part of camping and felt this should have been stated online after all i had bought lots of wood for a fire which is now wasted.

Very good
Had a lovely stay staff at reception were very welcoming and helpful our second visit and I’m sure not our last! 🙂

My husband and I brought our children aged 6 and 3 for their first camping trip. Site facilities were clean and reception staff helpful and friendly. Ponies nosing around at breakfast were a treat!! Our kids brought their bikes and also enjoyed the animal trail. Will definitely be coming back. 10/10!

A beautifully kept site managed by lovely, helpful staff.
We stayed for 4 days and loved the site so much that we didn’t leave it! Loved the ponies (from a distance) loved the cleanliness and the peacefulness, and loved the forest. The showers were hot, everyone was friendly and helpful and the site was beautifully looked after. We will be coming back!

Lovely site, definetly recommend
Lovely quiet site, great toilet/shower blocks, very clean and stocked with loo roll. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Site was clean all round. Free to pitch anywhere and plenty of room for kids to run around. Lovely woodland walks (maps provided free on site) through to a pub that has an ice cream parlor (good way to bribe 2x14yr old boys to go for a walk). Would certainly return.

Camping with 2 of my children
I came to the forest after 18yrs with my 2 youngest children. We all had a wonderful time and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times x

Absolutely Brilliant!
We've just got back from our week away camping at Ashurst and I have to say I highly recommend this site, we camped backing onto the woods which was perfect for our children to go exploring. Theres several lovely walks at through the forest - one of which takes you over the train tracks where you can wave and watch as the trains pass through underneath you - this was a massive hit for my kids they loved it we will 100% be coming back!

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Ashurst. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and they could often be seen walking around the campsite checking everything was ok. The facilities were very clean, and were cleaned regularly throughout our stay. There are only 6 showers in total but I only had to queue once, not for very long though and it was a Bank Holiday weekend so we expected it to be busy all weekend. Lovely site with plenty of shady pitches, there is a train line that runs along one side of the site and the trains run frequently and well into the evening so if the noise would bother you make sure you pitch on the opposite side, you can still hear them but they are not as noticeable. There is a pub one field away, Fridays are live music night, it is loud and you can hear it in the campsite but all was quiet by 10.30pm so didn't really bother us but might be worth bearing in mind if you planning a trip with young children. The site also offers a late check out until 5.30pm on the day of your departure for the bargain price of £3.00, well worth paying if you take as much stuff as we do! If you would the late check out you just need to let the staff know, otherwise check out is a little early at 11am. All in all fantastic site and we can't wait return.
