Sitting in a perfectly secluded spot of the New Forest, England's largest ancient woodland, is Denny Wood campsite. A haven for nature lovers and a peaceful retreat for stress-ridden holidaymakers, Denny Wood absorbs life’s worries and replaces them with only the best feelings.

Under-canopy pitches and tree-lined edges, Denny Wood gives the impression of being cut off from the outside world – a camper’s very own isolated piece of nature. Pitches are separated by the natural features of the land, such as ferns, oaks and fallen trees, and are frequented by the free-roaming ponies of the New Forest.

Like all of our New Forest sites, pitch up at Denny Wood campsite, and you’ll have direct access to many of the waymarked routes in the Forest, just a short walk from your pitch.

The New Forest itself is a wonderful place for all outdoor enthusiasts, with its mixture of landscapes all maintained by the free roaming animals.

Made up of rich heathlands, open grasslands, rivers and of course ancient trees, it’s the perfect setting for outdoor adventures. Follow waymarked routes on foot, on horseback or by bike, or try more relaxing pursuits including photography and nature watching.

Take your next holiday at Denny Wood campsite. Book today and have your mind and body ready for some serious outdoor refreshment.

Worth Noting:

Dogs are not allowed on this site.

This is a limited facility campsite with no showers or toilets, so it’s essential to bring your own chemical toilet.

When visiting the New Forest, please follow the New Forest Code to help us care and look after this unique place for everyone to enjoy. Find out how here.

Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e. not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan, we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbecues for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites, no barbecues of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.

Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies.

Facilities available at Denny Wood Campsite, New Forest

Please note: There are no toilets or shower facilities on site, so your own chemical toilet is required. The site has a special emphasis on nothing but nature, meaning that grassland and trees take precedence over toilet and shower blocks, though chemical toilet disposal facilities are available.

Drinking taps are provided, and Denny Wood’s 170 pitches cover tents, trailers and caravans, with hardstanding and seasonal pitches available.

Denny Wood is one of our two campsites (the other is Ashurst) that does not allow you to bring your canine (or other pet) friends.

First time ever staying in the New Forest, and Definitely won't be my last. Denny Wood was spacious and friendly. Far enough in from the main road, and a perfect distance to walk to Lyndhurst. Lovely forest Pony's and cattle wandering around. I would recommend this site

Great place
An easy place to revisit our 4th stay this year and always enjoyable
Unit Type: Caravan
Unfortunately after 10 years visiting this lovely place, the peace was shattered at times by generators! Antisocial, polluting and unnecessary as solar panel supplied all our needs including TV.
Unit Type: Motorhome
We've been coming here for over 10 years for the peace, quiet and natural surroundings. This time, for the first time, the ambience was spoilt by generators! These are antisocial and unnecessary with solar panels we all have, and so out of place in this setting, not to mention the pollution. We think they should be banned or highly restricted. Will have to think hard about returning, sadly.

Great site.
Very well kept. Excellent for wild life and outdoor activities. It has improved a great deal since our last visit 4 years ago. Looking forward to our next visit.

Fabulous site best in the forest. Year after year I know we are going to have a great time and time to really relax

Dennys Wood - Lovely Bank Holiday Weekend
Stayed at Denny's Wood over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We had a lovely time it was lovely and quiet, clean and peaceful. Beautiful cycle rides and walking in the woods Obviously sensible campers on this site as we had no trouble with over friendly ponies. Unlike Round Hills which we stayed in 2019, the ponies and donkeys were a pest. Felt safe here as well as out last visit to Round Hills people also had bicycles stolen. Much better experience this year will definitely be returning to Denny's Wood.

Magical site in the heart of the New Forest
Of all the hundreds of sites I stayed on with my parents as a child, there was one that I remembered most clearly. I returned this summer after a gap of over 40 years, and it didn't disappoint. Right between the forest and the moors, you are spoiled for choice for beautiful walks and safe cycle rides. The New Forest ponies visit several times a day, as well as other commoned animals, the donkey foals being a particular favourite. (Look but don't touch. Or feed.) The site is well-kept and the staff friendly and helpful. It IS basic (fresh water and chemical toilet disposal facilities only) but it's worth making the extra effort to tread lightly on such a beautiful environment. Highly recommended.

Fabulous site, unspoilt, quiet and lots of wildlife
Had a fantastic week at Denny Wood, so quiet and peaceful, friendly reception when we arrived (and left!). Parked up right in the woods and had ponies walking round the site all the time which was great to watch. Will definitely visit again. Thanks you
