Sitting in a perfectly secluded spot of the New Forest, England's largest ancient woodland, is Denny Wood campsite. A haven for nature lovers and a peaceful retreat for stress-ridden holidaymakers, Denny Wood absorbs life’s worries and replaces them with only the best feelings.

Under-canopy pitches and tree-lined edges, Denny Wood gives the impression of being cut off from the outside world – a camper’s very own isolated piece of nature. Pitches are separated by the natural features of the land, such as ferns, oaks and fallen trees, and are frequented by the free-roaming ponies of the New Forest.

Like all of our New Forest sites, pitch up at Denny Wood campsite, and you’ll have direct access to many of the waymarked routes in the Forest, just a short walk from your pitch.

The New Forest itself is a wonderful place for all outdoor enthusiasts, with its mixture of landscapes all maintained by the free roaming animals.

Made up of rich heathlands, open grasslands, rivers and of course ancient trees, it’s the perfect setting for outdoor adventures. Follow waymarked routes on foot, on horseback or by bike, or try more relaxing pursuits including photography and nature watching.

Take your next holiday at Denny Wood campsite. Book today and have your mind and body ready for some serious outdoor refreshment.

Worth Noting:

Dogs are not allowed on this site.

This is a limited facility campsite with no showers or toilets, so it’s essential to bring your own chemical toilet.

When visiting the New Forest, please follow the New Forest Code to help us care and look after this unique place for everyone to enjoy. Find out how here.

Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e. not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan, we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbecues for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites, no barbecues of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.

Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies.

Facilities available at Denny Wood Campsite, New Forest

Please note: There are no toilets or shower facilities on site, so your own chemical toilet is required. The site has a special emphasis on nothing but nature, meaning that grassland and trees take precedence over toilet and shower blocks, though chemical toilet disposal facilities are available.

Drinking taps are provided, and Denny Wood’s 170 pitches cover tents, trailers and caravans, with hardstanding and seasonal pitches available.

Denny Wood is one of our two campsites (the other is Ashurst) that does not allow you to bring your canine (or other pet) friends.

Peaceful site close to Lyndhurst

Excellent stay. Been here many times. Simple site, inexpensive (potable water, grey water and chemical disposal only) beautiful surroundings, with plenty of walks and cycling available for all. The site is non doggy, as there are ground nesting birds nearby. Very quiet with only cows and horses wandering through. Definitely recommend.

Hasn’t changed 😊👍

Denny Wood is a great place for camping. Been going there on and off for over 50 years. Last time was about 4 years ago and fortunately it hasn’t changed.

Excellent site

Have stayed at Dennywood for last 25 years, always enjoy staying there. This time the assistance of lady manager Michele who went the extra mile made it even better.

We have been to this site several times, we think it is our favourite, being near to a lot of cycle routes. As always friendly wardens. It is a pity that Camping & Caravan are giving up their tenure of these sites. Strangely we did not see any ponies this time, that is a first.

Happy that the site hasn't changed in over 40 years - but..
/
I'm happy that the site hasn't changed in over 40 years as it's such a lovely natural and peaceful place to be, however there are some issues: - The approach from Beaulieu needs to be signposted properly and the entrance drive needs reinforcing. Trying to pass another rig on the entrance drive is sometimes unavoidable and can be hazardous as the edges fall away to a ditch - extended gravel sides would help. - The price of £5 to recharge an e-bike from the site's solar power supply is far too high - £10 a day to charge our two bikes is really too much - that price could take and electric car almost 200 miles at a commercial charge station prices - (50KW hours @20p)

Peace and quiet

First time visiting this site in New Forest beautiful bird song and forest walks. Ponies and deer wandering through the site and no dogs. Will definitely stay again.

Perfect

In our opinion Denny’s Wood is the most peaceful, beautiful campsite in the Forest. Very spacious, clean, rustic with no noise except the birds - just surrounded by nature. Well maintained by the pleasant staff. Lovely walks and bike rides from the site. All with the bonus of being dog free.

Smashing place
/
It's how camping should be. Not namby pamby sites all layer in straight lines. Just water and waste its all you need. Pity the club giving them up. Will be back.

Lovely natural site.
/
Been coming to Denny wood annually since 1984. Its been a favourite playground for our children and grand children. Exploring and the feeling of open space. Its a great shame that the overflow area closed and people who require generators should go to electric powered sites, the noise and fumes are unnecessary spoiling the natural environment we seek. Solar panels are more than adequate for long stays here. We continue to use Denny Wood love the area and have introduced many friends.

Perfect!

First time ever staying in the New Forest, and Definitely won't be my last. Denny Wood was spacious and friendly. Far enough in from the main road, and a perfect distance to walk to Lyndhurst. Lovely forest Pony's and cattle wandering around. I would recommend this site
