Sitting in a perfectly secluded spot of the New Forest, England's largest ancient woodland, is Denny Wood campsite. A haven for nature lovers and a peaceful retreat for stress-ridden holidayers, Denny Wood absorbs life’s worries and replaces them with only the best feelings.

Made up of open grassland, under-canopy pitches and tree-lined edges, Denny Wood gives the impression of being cut off from the outside world – a camper’s very own isolated piece of nature. Pitches are separated by the natural features of the land, such as ferns, oaks and fallen trees, and are frequented by the free-roaming ponies of the New Forest.

Like all of our New Forest sites, pitch up at Denny Wood campsite and you’ll have direct access to many of the waymarked routes in the Forest, just a short walk from your pitch.

The New Forest itself is a wonderful place for all outdoor enthusiasts, with its mixture of landscapes all maintained by the free roaming animals.

Made up of rich heathlands, open grasslands, rivers and of course ancient trees, it’s the perfect setting for outdoor adventures on foot, on horseback or by bike, or more relaxing pursuits including photography and nature watching.

Take your next holiday at Denny Wood campsite. Book today and have your mind and body ready for some serious outdoor refreshment.

Please note: Dogs are not allowed on this site

Facilities available at Denny Wood Campsite, New Forest

The site has a special emphasis on nothing but nature, meaning that grassland and trees take precedence over toilet and shower blocks, though chemical toilet disposal facilities are present.

Please note that Denny Wood is one of our two campsites (the other is Ashurst) that does not allow you to bring your canine (or other pet) friends.

Great Campsite

First time at Denny Wood and definitely would return. Really quiet and very clean. Beautiful campsite in the centre of a wooded area. Perfect location for walking and cycling with paths leading to Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and a nearby train station, Beaulieu Road (1.5 miles). Also next to the station was a Pub (The Drift Inn) which cooked really nice food. Facilities at Denny Wood were basic but that’s all we wanted as we were self sufficient. There’s is a drinking water tap, chemical point and plenty of rubbish bins. Reception was very very friendly and more than helpful. Really nice to see pony’s, deer and cows naturally roaming around the campsite. Overall a beautiful quiet site in a perfect location.

Back to nature

We regularly camp at Denny Wood, and love the feeling of being 'in nature' , enjoying the ponies which wander around the site during the day, the deer who appear late in the evening, and the occasional fox or badger which passes by our unit, not to mention many different birds. The ability to just stroll off the site into the wildwood or onto the open heathland means no need to drive anywhere to experience the forest unless you really want to. We will certainly be returning to this beautiful corner of the New Forest, and nowadays are often accompanied by our little grandaughter who absolutely loves the experience.

Back to Denny Wood after 20 years changed from a motor home to a Caravan due to health problems, first test this is camping in the real sense. Wardens where great, helpful, always with a smile and a wave. We will return very soon

A brief but enjoyable stay
/
I stayed one night, 1st July, and had to be up and out at 4am to start a triathlon at Bucklers Hard. Denny Wood is a beautiful space and the other residents were all very pleasant and respectful. There were horses meandering through the campsite which made for a nice photo. And the staff at reception were super helpful in lending me a commode/toilet for use in my very hot tent ... that was a first but fun! I will certainly return, perhaps later in the year with my 4 and 2 year old. Thank you Denny Wood and New Forest for a great weekend.

Great site shame about the unattended vans.
/
We have always loved the informality of Denny Wood and the possibility it offers of tucking oneself away 'in the Forest '. However we notice that many of the units are unattended and have presumably been pitched for the season to be visited by their owners now and again. This denies visiting campers the opportunity of using some of the best situated pitches. Last year we were treated to the sound of a burglar alarm coming from one of the unattended rigs at all hours. We know a number of people who feel that camping at Denny Wood has been spoilt by this policy of renting pitches for the entire season and choose to go elsewhere for that reason.
