Sitting in a perfectly secluded spot of the New Forest, England's largest ancient woodland, is Denny Wood campsite. A haven for nature lovers and a peaceful retreat for stress-ridden holidayers, Denny Wood absorbs life’s worries and replaces them with only the best feelings.

Made up of open grassland, under-canopy pitches and tree-lined edges, Denny Wood gives the impression of being cut off from the outside world – a camper’s very own isolated piece of nature. Pitches are separated by the natural features of the land, such as ferns, oaks and fallen trees, and are frequented by the free-roaming ponies of the New Forest.

Like all of our New Forest sites, pitch up at Denny Wood campsite and you’ll have direct access to many of the waymarked routes in the Forest, just a short walk from your pitch.

The New Forest itself is a wonderful place for all outdoor enthusiasts, with its mixture of landscapes all maintained by the free roaming animals.

Made up of rich heathlands, open grasslands, rivers and of course ancient trees, it’s the perfect setting for outdoor adventures on foot, on horseback or by bike, or more relaxing pursuits including photography and nature watching.

Take your next holiday at Denny Wood campsite. Book today and have your mind and body ready for some serious outdoor refreshment.

Please note: Dogs are not allowed on this site

This is a limited facility campsite with no showers or toilets so it’s essential to bring your own chemical toilet.

Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbecues for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites no barbecues of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.

Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies

Facilities available at Denny Wood Campsite, New Forest

Please note: There are no toilets or shower facilities on site, so your own chemical toilet is required. The site has a special emphasis on nothing but nature, meaning that grassland and trees take precedence over toilet and shower blocks, though chemical toilet disposal facilities are available.

Drinking taps are provided, and Denny Wood’s 170 pitches cover tents, trailers and caravans, with hardstanding and seasonal pitches available.

Denny Wood is one of our two campsites (the other is Ashurst) that does not allow you to bring your canine (or other pet) friends.

Sunny August Bank Holiday marred by noisy generator
We visit Denny Wood often for its natural beauty and lovely cycling and walking opportunities. As always, we had a great stay and the camp managers made us feel very welcome. However, on this occasion one camper had a very noisy generator, which was used regularly and for the maximum time allowed; that was after the camp manager had intervened over its excessive use. This unfortunately marred the tranquil atmosphere for us and I am sure impacted on the experience of many other campers as the sound travelled a long way. At a site where there is no hook up, most people use solar panels to charge batteries. Surely if a generator is needed, only those built for camping purposes should be allowed as they are quiet and unobtrusive. The generator in question was open framed and loud. We are looking forward to our next stay at Denny Wood and hope it will be a quiet, peaceful break to allow us to enjoy nature at its best.

Fabulous Site, Brilliant Wardens
My wife and I stopped here earlier this year and loved it, so we went back with grandchildren over Bank holiday weekend and it did not disappoint. The welcome from Wardens was great, really friendly and very helpful. The site suits children and there is always something to do, cycling, walks through the Forest, blackberry picking [which my granddaughters had never done before ], watching the ponies, donkeys, cows and all the other wildlife. Even on a Bank holiday, the site had plenty of room.

Great retreat
We love to vist Denny Wood where we can get a real feeling of 'back to nature'. Walking directly into the forest means no need to use the car, and with the ponies and deer roaming onto the site, together with the odd fox or badger, sitting outside in the evening is a real pleasure. Our 5year old grandaughter also loves the freedom to explore around the site looking for bears or the gruffalo in the forest !! A great retreat for all the family.
Unit Type: Caravan
Always return here and have done so for 40 years clean
Clean hassel free caravaning. Lovely weekend with the granddaughters. Excellent wardens to boot.

A great place to relax.
The site manager was friendly and helpful on our arrival. He directed us to a lovely quiet and shady pitch. The site is right on the edge of woodland. It's great base for walking and cycling.
Unit Type: Camper Van
Always good whatever the season.
We always enjoy our visits to Danny's Wood campsite. First time in the school summer holidays. Very busy but very quiet. The only negative I would mention is that at this time of year the overhanging branches over the roadways need to be trimmed so that vehicle paintwork etc is not damaged.
Unit Type: Motorhome
We have been coming here for several years, it is our bolthole !We love the wildlife and the dark skies. However, there are an increasing number of fairy lights on flagpoles, awnings and caravans which are totally at odds with this natural setting.I have often been tempted to ask people why??? It spoils our enjoyment, it looks like a funfair
