Lovely site
Beautiful quiet site walking distance from Lyndhurst, so shops ,restaurants and takeaways abound. The site itself is well hidden from the road and there are many walks and cycle paths directly from it. The pitches are unmarked so you can choose your location. Ponies, and cows wandered past whilst I was parked up, and you get a wonderful sense of seclusion whilst there. There were a few inconveniences. Your parking ticket has to be collected from the Denny Woods Site, about 10 min walk, there is no grey waste disposal, again you have to go to the Denny Wood Site, and during the night the trains kept sounding their horns, and there was surprisingly a fair amount of road noise. Nonetheless I would be happy to visit again.

Peaceful site
We enjoyed our stay in this very quiet site. Suggest you review your booking on line to include the car/van registration. We had to wait till 9am to confirm we had booked on line for our stay as the office was closed the evening we arrived and we could not get our permit to camp. This delayed our departure time considerably
Unit Type: RV Motorhome
Lovely site Awful experience.
Groups of motorcyclists came in and raced round the site, very intimidating. No security.Would give zero stars if i could.

Lovely site
Stayed here for two nights. Wasn't informed about the permit until arriving at the site. Signs say it needs to be collected from Denny Wood campsite when their reception is open, which is 10-15min walk from Matley Wood. Make sure your permit is very obvious/visible otherwise you are left a reminder to pick up your permit by the warden who inspects around 7am each morning. As with all New Forest sites, the NF ponies/cows do wander around. I was very fortunately to see a few deer in the wood on a couple of occasions during my stay. The walk into Lyndhurst is lovely and I treated myself (&dog) to an early breakfast before the crowds arrived. I plan to return as the NF is very local for me.

A hidden gem
This campsite is about as near to camping in the wild as you can get. There’s no set pitches or even a fence separating the site from the forest) and when we visited it was very quiet. Ponies ambled through during the day and we were woken by cows having a morning stroll. There’s no reception here, you either just park up and wait for a note on your car in the morning telling you where to get your permit, or try reception at Denny Wood which is just up the road. This confused us somewhat as we esoected to have to check in somewhere after booking online. If you want peace and tranquility above all else this place is perfect.

Great stay
Fantastic stay, loved every minute I was there very relaxing and the owners are very friendly and helpful, great walks for the dogs, and it is back to basics no toilets or showers, great spending time camping right in the new forest. Will go back next and cant wait.

Great place to stay, friendly and safe.

Great Little Site
Great site friendly manager nice and quiet very relaxing no pressure from any quarter, nice walks from site very pretty only problem is the very poor track leading to the site very rough needs to be graded flat
Unit Type: Caravan
Great site, poor experience
Wonderful site, great location for walking. However having cars driving round the site waking everyone by sounding horns at 12:30 am was dreadful and this was compounded by the arrival the following morning before 9 am, of teams of tree surgeons who proceeded to cut down the nearest tree to our motorhome. Of course work has to be done but why wait till the the day before the first bank holiday after site opening and why were we not warned, we could have moved to another pitch to avoid the sawdust, and minimise the noise
Unit Type: RV Motorhome
In middle of New Forest under the trees pitch up where you like , walk straight out into the trees or across the common to Lydhurst with in 30 mins great site will be going again so relaxing highly recommend if you want nothing but nature
