nice and peaceful but....
/
what a gorgeous place. so serene and typically new forest, being visited by ponies at breakfast is very special. the only downside is that the pitches aren't marked in anyway so basically it's a free for all with people stopping anywhere and I'm still not sure we were on the right size pitch. Also..no clear signage as to where to drive to find a spot and permits have to be picked up at Dennys Wood, never did find it!

2 nights of peaceful bliss!
/
Easy booking online? Beautiful, quite, basic site!!! (Which we like)! Loverly walk to Wildlife park (nr Ashurst) Quite site, friendly staff at nearby Denny wood sire, to collect ticket? Lots of wild life, pony’s, cows, birds, Lyndhurst only a 2ml walk away? Total relaxation, and walks a plenty!!!
Unit Type: Camper Van
Wild camping
/
Beautiful site with no real facilities and plenty of space to be on your own so feels like wild camping. Horses roam about the site amongst bracken and fir trees. Annoying the ban on fires. This takes away so much of the camping experience. Only set to continue what with dryer summers on horizon.

Booking system needs updating
/
Booking system needs updating ,I booked online and arrived after site office was shut so unable to collect site permit for our stay .on following morning was left a polite note to visit site office and collect permit ?????? As this site has no toilets etc surely on the online booking form you could put in your registration number of the vehicle job done .this would stop unnecessary traffic to office which is situated on a different campsite the writing out of polite notes the officer could just check registration numbers with his booking sheets saving paper and the environment all in one !!!! Very well set out campsite lovely in the trees . Really enjoyed the quite stay and space .

Lovely location
/
This was a first camp with our new tent lovely camp site with lots of little areas to set up camp amoungst the trees. So felt quite secluded and away from other campers. Really felt like camping in the open forest Our dog loved it plenary of sticks to chase and chew lol Small campsite no facilities which made it peaceful. We did camp quite close to the road so there was road noise. Maybe quieter at the back. But not enough noise to spoil the holiday saw lots of wild life and birds. We will definitely return thank you for our warm welcome too on checking in at Denny wood

One of our favourite sites.....
/
Matley Wood is one of our favourite sites, exceptionally peaceful with easy access to the most stunning and hidden away parts of the New Forest. Easy to book and to find and Andy is very friendly and helpful. Good access to nearby good eating pubs. The wildlife is incredible too.
Unit Type: Caravan
Beautiful and peaceful
/
We were a little worried that the ground may be very wet as we arrived after a period of sustained heavy rain. However, the ground was firm and no problem at all to tow the caravan and set it up. The site is quiet with lots of glades where you can have a view into the woodland where ponies and cattle roam free - right up to the caravan at times. While you do need your own facilities, the service area was well kept and accessible. We will definitely be coming again.

Set amongst the Trees
/
This site is linked to Denny Wood which is 1/2 mile down the road and is the smaller of the 2 sites. If you want to be located amongst the trees this is idea. Its quiet and peaceful.
