Enjoy it while you can!

Round hill is a lovely back to nature campsite where you get a real feel of the new forest. However be aware that at weekends it does get invaded by what a fellow camper called 'London Scum'. These creatures turn up Friday evenings shouting and screaming long into the night. The following day beer bottles and rubbish can be found in the surrounding woodlands usually with a large burn mark where they have decided to torch half of the forest! The good news is some of them only last the one night and after taking the washroom plugs as a souvenir (its true, you will need to take your own), the tents are filling the bins on a Sunday. Unfortunately I can see this behavior getting all of the lovely new forest campsites banned by the Forestry Commission and Agisters which would be a great shame.

More information regarding ponies
/
We live in the New Forest so are used to the ponies and so I was really shocked at how bold and unafraid the ponies were at Roundhill. They systematically raid peoples' tents for food even when people are in their tents and I had one try to kick me when I was trying to move it away from our tent. They even walked straight up to a man and his daughter having breakfast outside their tent and ate the child's breakfast. I realise that the problem has occured because people ignore the notices telling them not to feed the ponies but I do think that more information should be given to people coming to Roundhill e.g. keep your food in the car (one pony was eating dried pasta in a family's tent - surely not good for the pony but also scary for the family who were in the tent when the pony walked in) and also people should be warned that ponies will walk into their tents if the doors are left open and what to do if a pony does come in to the tent. These animals are wild and if spooked could cause a lot of damage. It is such a same as it is a beautiful site and well maintained but it did not make for a relaxing holiday when you are constantly on guard.

Nice site -cold showers
/
Born and bred in Brockenhurst it's always nice to spend the August Bank Holiday weekend with family and friends in this lovely location. The only drawback was that the gents showers were cold on two occasions-8am and 10am. Given the pricing rates it should be well within the Forestry Commission's ability to provide a continuous hot water supply, however great the demand is.

Beautiful site but VERY noisy!!
/
We have just spent 3 nights at Roundhill which is an absolutely stunning site however it is without a doubt the noisiest site with the most dirty facilities that I have ever been to. The noise on all 3 nights was still going strong at 1.30am with music blaring out from lots of people from the afternoon until they were told to turn it off. It certainly wasn't calm and tranquil like the setting!! As for the facilities they were not purpose built but instead more like cabins. They were so dirty that even the person checking them wrote the word 'diabolic' instead of 'checked'. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages! There also isn't nearly enough toilet and shower blocks on site - 3 for 500 pitches meant that even at 7am there we're queues coming out of the door to have a shower. All in all a really disappointing experience and we certainly won't be back!!

Had a lovely stay here at roundhill.
/
This was our first time to the new forest and we picked roundhill to camp , omg I have fallen in love the camp site was clean and toilet and showers were cleaned 3 times a day, my moan is not at the site , but the people who use these facilities, there are notes in the showers stating where cleaning items such as a mop and bucket , asking people to clean after use , every time I went to have a shower I was cleaning the cubical first because someone couldn't be bothered , over all my family had a lovely stay, the staff were brilliant and pleasant , the ponys and there foals as well as the donkeys and there foals made my week. Cows even roaming , my girls loved it here and we are coming back next year . 5 ***** for our stay this year ,

Family Group Camp

We booked as a group, three tents and a camper van. On our arrival the staff were extremely friendly and helped us to find a suitable pitch. The site is flat with gorse bushes in between pitches, making some areas secluded. There are three shower, toilet and washing up blocks. The facilities are fine but could get very busy during weekend and busier times. They could do with updating, as they are a bit tired. They were cleaned regularly and worked fine. The showers were very hot!! The horses, donkeys and cows roam freely and invite themselves at some meal times so be ready to move food. We had a great time and will definitely visit again.

We camped as a family group, Three tents and a camper van. The staff were extremely friendly, helping us to find a good pitch. The campsite is flat, with gorse bushes between the pitches making it secluded in some area. Plenty of space for the children to play and of course the horses, cows and donkeys that wander around. Make sure there is no food left out our it will be eaten. The horse do tent to invite themselves to breakfast. The site has three shower, toilet and washing up blocks, which are all perfectly fine, however they could do with updating. A lovely site, we will definitely visit again.

We stayed as a group. Two tents and a camper van. The staff were extremely friendly and helped us to find a good pitch. A lovely level site with gorse bushes interspersed across the site. Three shower, toilet, washing up blocks, which were perfectly fine, but could do with a bit of a face lift. The site was very quiet in terms of noise at night. Well located site between Brockenhurst & Beulieu. We will definitely visit Roundhills again. A wonderful campsite.

Overpriced
/
The photos on the website are extremely misleading. We felt that Roundhill was overpriced, crowded, noisy and dirty. There were many unsupervised young children playing in the roads, cycling and stroking the ponies. The showers and toilets were only cleaned once a day. We regularly had to queue to wash up and shower. The motor home next to us openly flouted the notice requesting campers not to run noisy generators. The nearby large group of six tents played loud music all evening every evening. On one occasion they even started up at 1 am. There are large dips in all the fields and near the toilet block entrances which, after the slightest rain, soon become muddy puddles. On the plus side the location is superb, the ponies donkeys and cattle wander freely and the water is very hot!

Mixed weather but great site
/
Mixed weather. Great quiet site. Grandparents with 2 grandchildren. Only problem was with showers. Water was far too hot. Couldn't take 5 year old granddaughter. Also water pressure everywhere was too strong to control for basins and washing up facility. Toilet block was cleaned regularly. If it was ever remodelled, it would be better to make sinks just inside the door lower for children. Between height of sinks and water pressure very difficult for children to wash and brush teeth easily. Would return however.
